Edgar “Ed” Matern

Edgar "Ed" Arthur Matern passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born July 29, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Max Arthur and Charlotte Huppman Matern. Ed married Arlene Stratton in 1974 who passed away on January 18, 2003. He married Kristine Mallory on June 4, 2005 who passed away April 13, 2011.

Ed served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 with an honorable discharge as Specialist 3rd Class. He had a successful career as a salesman for Ernest F Mariani Co. Ed was known for his easy laughter and always present smile. While he was a private man, he still made many friends spending time walking his best friend Zoe and soaking up the sun at the pool. He loved to travel and took many trips with his sweetheart Kristine to Capital Reef, Mexico, and anywhere his mobile home inspired him to explore. Ed is survived by his step-daughter Melissa Rogerson, and her children Annie and Sara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max & Charlotte, and brothers Clarence "Smiley" Matern and Henry Matern.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Mesquite City Cemetery, 301 Hillside Drive. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local Hospice organization.
