Please accept Annette and My condolence on the passing of our dear friend.
As I reflect on the 25 years Loren and I worked together for Johnny DiBiase (M.J. DiBiase Contracting) it warms my heart to think how many wonderful men worked together as one to accomplish the Great and Beautiful buildings in Las Vegas. Loren from the outside seemed like a grumpy old man scurrying about yelling at men to hurry up, get out of his way, I don't have time to waste waiting on you. But to us that knew him, he was just an old softy.
He told me of the times he worked at the lumber yard driving forklift, and of taking Susan DiBiase and her horse to Rodeo meets for Johnny. He told me of times that he and Dorothy (Mom) would go to the stock car races and the fun they had. They sure loved to camp and fish, but best of all were his two daughters Dawn, and Danielle.
The times we spent talking about them you knew they were the reason for living for him and Dorothy.
When Dorothy became so sick and was put in the hospital he came to work red eyed (men don't cry) worried that she might die, we had some serious talks that day and he asked if I knew how to give her a blessing. I told him yes of course and would be honored to perform that ordinance, Ronnow Leavitt and I went to the hospital straight away and gave her a blessing. It was then that I realized that he was a man of great faith, he had just stepped back for a little while. Dorothy started getting better and Loren was back on top of the world again. She was left with some health problems from that but you wouldn't know it from both their attitudes toward life.
Annette and I have enjoyed many long visits with the both of them, a lot of them at Christmas time, he would see a reindeer pattern or another Santa (the Coke one) and go home and cut it out and add it to the many other displays. The house was a sight to see at the Holiday Season and of course always leaving with fruit from his trees and bottles of Jams and jellies.
I will truly miss my old friend and his warm heart, but I know he is with the love of his life and doesn't hurt any more.
Till we meet again my friend
John

My dearest cousin was always smiling and would always bring a smile even to strangers. His love for his family is unserpassable beyond words. My father, Leo Astgen always thought so much of Loren and Wayne. My dad and the brothers grandmother had the pleasure of always watching over them as young men. A fond memory when Loren was able to drive a car our grandmother Anna Astgen would always remind them when I was in the car with them to drive like it was full of eggs taking their time and bringing me back home safe.
I am so sorry I wasn't there to be with the family because of a health issue I have been going through. My prayers and love to you all!
Lanny
