Roy Christian Olsen

Roy Christian Olsen, age 87, died Friday, April 14, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born July 28, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Henry LaVod and Maggie Margaret Bateman Olsen. On October 7, 1949 he married his sweetheart Beth Wadsworth in the Idaho Falls Temple. They shared a special connection of being the exact same age, born on the same day of the same year. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2010.

Roy grew up in Iona, Idaho. He was a Life Scout, loved sports and was especially good at baseball. In 1968 he moved to Mountain Home and worked as a Farmer/Auto Mechanic. In 1973 he moved to Las Vegas and worked as an Auto Mechanic specializing on transmissions for Fletcher Jones. Roy and Beth owned a floral and wedding decorating business and reception center. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved visiting with people.

Survivors include his five children: Gail Roy (Colleen) of Sandy, UT; DelRay (Debra) , Val Dean (Mary Jo) both of Las Vegas, NV; Terri Brooks of Maui, HI; Lynda (Vern) Dimick of Logandale, NV; one sister Carol (Johnny) Steele of Murray, UT; 19 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel, one brother and one sister.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, Nevada. A visitation will be held from 9 - 10 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 12 p.m. (MST) at the Iona Cemetery, 4900 1st Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
