Barbara Kristine “Kristy” Hoffman, 57, passed away on April 17, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV. Kristy, the daughter of Larry Rathje and Barbara Kurtz, was born in St. George, UT on December 16, 1961. She grew up in Las Vegas surrounded by grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins who adored her. She spent a lot of time with her family on Cedar Mountain, where she learned how to chop wood and drive a car.
Kristy graduated from Western High School and earned an associate’s degree from the College of Southern Nevada. She worked as an administrative assistant at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), where she found joy in helping students navigate through college.
Spending time with family was Kristy’s favorite pastime. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and had great joy in her family. Kristy accomplished something few women achieve – remaining friends with both her ex-husbands, Ron and Dave.
Kristy also enjoyed scenic drives, baking (and eating) desserts, decorating her home, painting and rearranging the furniture in her home. It was not uncommon for her family to come home to find the furniture totally rearranged.
Prior to Kristy’s passing, she was surrounded by her family who gathered to express their love and appreciation for her. Her wit and infectious laugh will be greatly missed.
Kristy is survived by her children, Amanda Brady, David (Jessica) Coleman, and Danielle (Andrew Aicher) Hoffman; her grandchildren, Austin, Destiny, Chelsea, and Amy; her great-grandson, Ayron; her parents, Larry and Barbara Rathje; and her sisters, Kimberly (Wes) Davis and Karry Rathje.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 100 N. Arrowhead Lane, Mesquite, NV on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Viewing Services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Graveside Services will take place after the funeral at the Mesquite City Cemetery. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book.
