Welcome to the memorial page for

Don Berg Jr.

April 18, 1931 ~ November 27, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Don Berg Jr. passed away on November 26, 2017 in his home in Beaver Dam, AZ. He was born on April 18, 1931 in American Fork, UT to Don C. Berg and Berneice Young.
Don was born a rancher. As a child, if he wasn’t at school or with his Grandpa Young, he was with the sheep. When he turned nine he was given responsibility for his own small herd. From then on, he spent the summers on the mountain with just his horse, the sheep, a tent, and the essential provisions. This continued until he joined the Navy when he turned seventeen.
While in the Navy, he became best friends with Rocky Schultz. When they returned to the states, Rocky and his sister Marge traveled from New Jersey to Utah to visit Don. That was the moment Don’s life changed forever. When Marge and Don met, it was love at first sight.
They got married in Las Vegas, NV in 1953, and that is where their adventure begins. Don and Marge continued on the five generation ranching heritage, and they raised their kids on the original Berg Ranch. Family vacations were spent docking sheep at The Lambing Ground or trailing the herd up to the Uintahs, and they wouldn’t have had it any other way. They did all the work as a family, but it never felt like work because they loved it. Don and Marge made the ranch a picture perfect place. It was a haven for many in the Heber Valley, and Don was a teacher, example, and father figure to several kids.
After they left the ranch in the early 80's, they had other ranches in Idaho and Montana where they had sheep and cattle. When they returned to Utah, they started up a successful Top Soil business. Don was a great businessman. Hew as always fair and straight forward. Him and Marge made many friends through their business ventures, and he was a great boss and friend.
Don was loved by all. Although he was small in stature, he always seemed to be the biggest man in the room. He was a selfless, hardworking man that loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his sweetheart of sixty-four years, Marge Schultz Berg of Beaver Dam, AZ, his children; Duff (Pam) Berg of Veyo, UT, Ted (Lee) Berg of Ft. Duchesne, UT, and Becky Berg (Tom Yeomans) of Bullhead, AZ, his extended children; Blain and Caralee Boren of Wallsburg, UT, Ronnie and Feida Johnson of Pahrump, NV, his sisters; Joan Cummings of Heber City, UT, and Shirley Mower of Kemmer, WY, his five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Don C. Berg and Berniece Young Berg, his beloved Grandpa Young, his sister Beverly Holden, his brothers in law; Ray Cummings, Bill Mower, Rocky Schultz, Ronnie Schultz, and his sister in law, Jerry Sazbo.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at 2966 E. State Road. 32 Heber City, UT on December 2, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. MST. The fmaily invites you to leave a memory or message on their Guest Book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
