Garen Staley Obituary

Garen Van Staley, age 55, died Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his home in Moapa, Nevada.  He was born on May 29, 1964 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Larry Ray and Donna Louise Luker Staley. He married Natalie Lewis on April 30, 1983 in Moapa, NV.  They were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George, UT Temple on December 5, 1986.

Garen was raised in Moapa Valley, and it took a village to raise him. He loved playing sports, but chose to work at a young age to start paying for his car. He started his paving career with Ron Lewis Construction, and worked his way up in various paving companies to  Foreman.  He was loved as a boss, for he treated everyone as family. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and teaching his children how to hunt and fish. He loved cooking, especially in his dutch ovens. Above all, Garen loved his family. He went to all of his kids’ sporting events, and was their biggest fan. He lived his life through his children and bragged about them regularly. He had a lot to be proud of. Natalie was the love of his life. They faced their many joys and trials together.

Garen is survived by his loving wife, Natalie Lewis Staley of Moapa, NV; his children, Larry (Natalie) Staley of Moapa, NV, Riley (Jakell)  of Alamo, NV, Zachary (Paige) of Overton, NV, and Makenzey (Tate) Jenkins of Carson City, NV; his mother, Donna (Frank) Merritt; his mother-in-law, Pat Lewis; his siblings, Bret (Laura) Staley and Sherry Ramos, Natalie’s siblings, and his twelve grandsons and five granddaughters, whom he loved beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his son, Cortney Ronald Staley; his father, Larry Ray Staley, and his father-in-law, Paul Ronald Lewis.
