Gwendolyn Waite Obituary

Gwendolyn Waite

Gwendolyn Ruth Brown Waite 89, passed away on August 16, 2019 in Rexburg, Idaho. She was born May 9, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Major Lee Brown and Annie Louisa Lillywhite. She was the youngest of 9 children. She married Marvin LaVern Waite in the St. George, Utah temple on March 17, 1950.

She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions including teaching in every church organization as well as Seminary teacher, Secretary of the R.S. and Compassionate Service Leader. She never missed her visiting teaching assignments. Gwen was known for her teaching skills and for her knowledge and love of the scriptures. Gwen served several missions with her husband, one to Montana and one to Palmyra, New York. After Vern's death, she went on to serve in the Family History Department and Nigeria, Africa.

Gwen's hobbies were sewing, baking bread and pies. She loved music, reading and writing. In fact, she leaves behind 10 volumes of her journals. She was always cleaning her house and weeding her garden. Her greatest source of love was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Teresa (David) Nielsen of Scottsdale, AZ., D. Lanny (Maxine) Waite of Logandale, NV., Diane (Terry) Bushman of Springfield, MO., Mike (Rae) Waite of Hazelton, ID., Greg (Rhonda) Waite of Mesa, AZ., Susan McKee Waite (wife of Scott), Becky (Ken) Higbee of St. George, UT., 34 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren.
