Laurie Lynch Obituary

Laurie Ellen Lynch, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She was born April 23, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to Robert S. Brown and Marian Brown (nee Stukey).  After a brief courtship, she married John P. Lynch on September 19, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Most of Laurie’s childhood was spent in Birmingham, Alabama where she graduated from Banks High School in 1963.  Laurie moved to Los Angeles in 1964, where she met John.  The couple spent much of their early marriage apart while John was in the Marine Corps.  After John left the service, the couple raised their two children in Kansas City, Missouri, where Laurie was actively involved with her children’s activities. She earned Associates Degree in Accounting at Longview Community College in the late 70’s.  Laurie also taught FORTRAN at Longview.  The family moved to Huntington Beach, California in 1981 where Laurie worked as a bookkeeper.

In 2005 the couple retired to their favorite weekend getaway destination Mesquite, Nevada.  Laurie was an avid fan of the K.C. Royals and K.C. Chiefs. She also enjoyed reading, line dancing, playing piano, jigsaw puzzles, word games, gambling and playing with her dog.  Most of all, Laurie loved spending time with her three grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband John Lynch of Mesquite, NV; her son John (Jack) Lynch and his wife Keri of Chicago, IL; her daughter Tara Viviani and her husband Gino of Garden Gove, CA; her grandchildren John (Jay) Lynch, Kassandra (Kasie) Lynch and Peter Viviani; her sister Penny Brown Waterstone of Waldport, OR.

A celebration of her life will be held July 7, 2018 in Mesquite, NV.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to Disabled American Veterans, Salvation Army, or Friends of Mesquite Shelter.  The family invites you to leave a message or memory on their “Guestbook” at virginvalleymortuary.com.
