Loren Francis Artus

Loren Francis Artus, age 85, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He was born December 4, 1931 in Dubuque, Iowa to Donald George and Theresa Magdaline Astgen Artus.  On June 20, 1954 he married Dorothy Ellen Thayne in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She preceded him in death on January 1, 2009.

Loren grew up in Iowa his family moved to Truckee, California.  He lived there for a short time before moving to Las Vegas at the age of 16.  He was a proud Navy Veteran, having served on the USS James C. Owens Destroyer, as a gunners mate.  He raised his family in the Las Vegas valley, then retired to Logandale in 1994.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, making jelly and getting ready for the holidays.  His greatest joy came from time with his family.

Survivors include his two daughters: Dawn (Tim) DeBerardinis of Logandale, NV; Danielle (Scott) Thorne of Las Vegas, NV and seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne and one granddaughter, Abbey.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Logandale 5th Ward Chapel.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.  Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
