Patricia Catherine (Kaiser) Harris

Longtime Overton resident, Patricia Catherine Kaiser Harris, passed away surrounded by loving family on Monday, April 8, 2019 in Las Vegas at the age of 96. Patricia was born February 25, 1923 in San Francisco, California to William Henry Kaiser and Agatha Augusta Starke. Much of her childhood was spent visiting her extended family in nearby Petaluma, California, a community she was deeply connected to. On March 23, 1940 she married James William Harris in Reno, Nevada and was lovingly married for 60 years. Jim preceded her in death on November 19, 2000.

Jim and Pat moved to Nevada in the early 1940's and eventually settled in Overton to open a café that catered to fishermen of the newly created Lake Mead. Eventually, they opened Jimmie’s Bar on Main Street in Overton. In the 1950's she took a job at the silica plant, Simplot, where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for over 20 years. After retiring, she and Jim enjoyed spending summer months in Eagle Valley, NV camping and fishing and often took their grandchildren with them. In later years, Pat enjoyed volunteering at the Overton Senior Center preparing tax returns for members at no charge.

Patricia loved her family and was a dear friend to many. Her hobby was keeping up with everyone and keeping track of everything. She did those things with grace all the days of her life.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Mario) Rugiero; eight grandchildren: Leisa (Eduardo) Rodriguez of San Diego, CA; Wendee (Troy) Johns of Henderson, NV; Cheyln (Grant) Joseph of Portland, OR; Jim Harris III of Overton; Theresa (David) DiSalvo of Metairie, New Orleans, LA; Brenda (Mark) Brown of Springfield, MO; Tanya (Regan) Benavides of Overton, NV; 13 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Phyllis Hoester and Ralpha Dunn; husband, James William Harris, Sr.; sons: James William Harris, Jr.; Joseph Daniel Harris and Michael Henry Harris; grandson, Vincent Lee Seckinger and granddaughter, Stacey Jane Baldwin.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Boulevard, Logandale, NV 89021. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Cemetery.
