William Jeppson "Bill" Camp, age 77, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born August 31, 1941 in Boise, Idaho to Harry David and Barbara Helen Jeppson Camp. On September 10, 1964 he was sealed to Roma Lynn Christensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Bill grew up in Boise. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from BYU and later his Master’s Degree from UNLV. After moving to Las Vegas in 1967, he enjoyed teaching in the Clark County School District for 30 years and was honored to be named the teacher of the year by the district in 1988. He taught at UNLV and was also an Advisor to the Student Teachers from BYU Idaho University. He always enjoyed art, drawing and making pottery. He was instrumental in starting the Nevada State Art Association and served as it’s President. Bill was a member of the Air National Guard in Salt Lake City and worked summers as a fire fighter for the BLM and National Forest Service in Utah and Nevada.
Bill lived a life of service. He was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States Mission. He later served in many different callings, including as a Bishop, Young Men’s Leader, High Priest Group Leader and as a service with his wife at the Deseret Industries, serving in the Employment Center. He suffered from a rare disease called Myasthenia Gravis Disease. Wanting to educate himself and others with the disease, he started a MGD help group in Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife Roma Lynn; three sons and five daughters: Teri Lynn Camp; Donna (Tom) Constantino all of Las Vegas, NV; Karen (Scott) Sharples of Chandler, AZ; Carolyn (Kevin) Leu of Las Vegas, NV; Bill (Brooke) Camp of Baltimore, MD; David (Heather) Camp; Sandra Camp both of Las Vegas, NV; Kevin (Erin) Camp of Chandler, AZ; 25 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers: Gene (Gin) of Las Vegas, NV and Dick (Evelyn) of St. George, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Erickson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Charleston Chapel, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, Nevada. A visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be Monday, April 2, 2019 at 1 p.m. (MST) in the IOOF Council Cemetery, Council, Idaho.
