Albert Krause Obituary

Albert Carl Krause Jr, age 88 passed away on November 12th at Mesa View Regional Hospital. He was born on 10-5-1933 in Staten Island N.Y.  to Albert Krause Sr., and Virginia Lisean. He married Phyllis Quillen on 5-20-1961 in Caroline County Virginia with full military honors while both were participating in a Civil War reenactment.

His first job was as a baby model at less than 1 year of age. Despite growing up in urban New York City, he developed a keen interest in fishing and hunting, and enjoyed those activities as much as possible. In 1964 the pair moved to Neptune City N.J., where their first son, Frederick Carl was born in 1965. Al had trained as a linotype operator, and by this time they had their own shop. Soon afterwards computers started entering the workplace, and Al knew that the days of the linotype were at an end. Taking an “If you can’t beat them, join them” approach, he sold the linotype shop, and used the money to retrain as a computer programmer, a profession that he would work until retirement. In 1967 they moved to California and briefly settled in the Modesto area, before heading south to the San Diego area.  Their second son Peter John was born there in 1967. That was home for several decades until a move to the Los Angeles area, then the Pensacola, Fl area, before finally settling in the Mesquite area after retirement. Al was a lifelong fisherman, and passed his love of it onto both of his sons who remain avid about the sport.

He is survived by wife Phyllis who has moved back to the southwest Pennsylvania area where she grew up. Oldest son Fred lives with his wife Maria in Layton, Utah, with their grown kids Tyler and Jessica living in the immediate area, while son Carlos lives in Oceanside, Ca, and son Randy lives in St. George, Ut. Youngest son Pete lives with his wife Melissa in Allentown, Pa., with all three of their kids, Adam, Darian and her husband Will, and Tanner all living in the area. He was preceded in death by his older sister Virginia, and younger brother Stuart, leaving younger sister Dorothy as the last surviving member of the elder Krause clan.
