Elaine (Perkins) Waite

It is with great sorrow that the family of Elaine Perkins Waite announces her passing on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Overton, Nevada at the age of 86. Elaine was born on January 24, 1934 in Overton, Nevada, the seventh child of Anthony and Effie Easman (Huntsman) Perkins. Elaine grew up in Overton, Nevada, graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 1952, and attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah. On July 13, 1954 she married Elmer LaVoy Waite in the St. George Utah Temple. Elaine and Elmer raised their five children in North Las Vegas, Nevada; Fairbanks, Alaska; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Logandale, Nevada. Elaine and Elmer enjoyed serving a twelve-month proselytizing mission in the California San Jose Mission beginning January 1995. Elaine loved being a wife, mother, homemaker, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and disciple of Jesus Christ. She will be remembered for being a strong matriarch, a friend, the soul of Cousin Capers, and a crafter. Her talented hands created countless cards, sewed, cooked, planted a beautiful yard, painted, cross-stitched, and, above all else, hugged and loved. 

She is survived by her children: Claudia (Dirk) Richards, Mark (Oneita) Waite, Herb (Pam) Waite, Anthony (Rick Rawlins) Waite, and Matthew (Dawn) Waite; her sisters: Caroline Perkins Reber and AnRae Perkins Bell; eighteen grandchildren and fifty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters: Edna Perkins Leavitt and Geneva Perkins Simmons; five brothers: Oren, Ver, Perry, Alan, and Tony Perkins; and grandson, Samuel Waite Richards.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., and will be live streamed on the Facebook group, Elaine P. Waite Memorial. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Overton Chapel at 226 W Thomas Ave, Overton, NV 89040.  Interment will follow at the Logandale Cemetery.
