Harold Raymond Ackley

Harold Raymond Ackley, age 85, died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada.  He was born May 26, 1935 in Middletown, Illinois to Clyde and Bernadine Louise Steinhour Ackley.  On August 23, 1961 he married JoAnn Louise Martin in Crown Point, Indiana.

Harold grew up in Middletown and then he moved to the suburbs of Chicago. He spent several years working for the Public Works Department of the Village of Dolton.  He retired to Mesquite in 1999 where he enjoyed the hot weather, going out to eat and dropping a few nickels in the poker machines.  He made many friends who looked out for him and treated him as family.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn of Mesquite, NV; one son and two daughters: Peggy Bellow of Asheboro, NC; Mark (Pearl) Ackley of Arizona; Sherry (Mark) Newey of Sandy, UT; five Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie (Ronald) Janssen of Middletown, IL and Sandy (Marc) Wendt of Lincoln, IL.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 4, 2020 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, Nevada.  Friends and family are invited to attend and offer condolences or sign the online guest book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com
