Jerry Lee Northern, Sr

Jerry Lee Northern, Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada.  He was born November 15, 1946 to Lonnie and Mable (Davis) Northern in Marion, Indiana.

Jerry loved his country, his community, his friends and family, and Elvis.  These are all reflected in his service in the Army, his 30 plus year career as a Denver police officer and his family of four children.  Jerry had two incredible children from his first marriage, Terrie and Jerry Jr. whom he loved and cherished, and two stepsons from his second marriage, Richard and Brian, whom he treated as his own from day one.  He met and fell in love with his wife of 38 years, Twila, in Denver, Colorado and together they provided love and support for all.  Jerry shared a love for the mountains of Colorado and shared many a camping trip in a trailer with numerous retread tires that may not be legal today.  But the trailer was filled with love and dirty kids who had spent the day hiking and fishing for trout. At night they sang Elvis and Buddy Holly songs in a cacophony of voices to Jerry’s guitar.
Jerry played in bands his whole life and had a passion for the guitar and music.  He spent many afternoons and evenings gladly strumming and singing along with anyone who cared to play, sing or just listen.  

Upon retirement he and Twila moved to Mesquite, Nevada for some warmth, no snow, a bit of a new adventure, and let’s not lie, no state income taxes!  They enjoyed 18 years in the sleepy desert town where Jerry picked up busy work doing security for the casinos and he enjoyed some well-deserved relaxation. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie. He is survived by his wife, his sister Cova, of Marion Indiana, daughter Terrie (Damon) Hoodak of Thornton, Colorado, son Jerry Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Stepson Richard (Tia) Orth of Aurora Colorado and stepson Brian (Alison) Orth of Orlando, Florida.

Jerry is also survived by 8 grandchildren.  (Michael, Makayla, Brandi, Dillon, Daniel, Benjamin, Bryce and Tyler) and three great grandchildren (Liam, Landon and Evangeline).
