Jessica Rosalie Rhodes

Jessica Rosalie Rhodes, 34, passed away on July 22, 2023 while hiking in the Valley of Fire State Park, near her home in Las Vegas, NV. Jessica was born on July 25, 1988 in Chicago, IL to Clarence and Josephine Brakeman Rhodes. After a short time living in San Diego, CA, Jessica’s family moved to Las Vegas, NV when she was thirteen. After graduating from Cheyenne High School, she attended the College of Southern Nevada where she earned a nursing degree. She worked as a CNA at Valley Hospital, Sunrise Hospital, and Summerlin Hospital, and made many friends there. Jessica loved fitness and pushing herself. She was a member of Camp Rhino in Las Vegas and she trained often to run Spartan races and Ninja courses.

Jessica was a faithful believer in God, and attended the Word of Life Christian Center.  She loved her family, spending time with her parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews. After her father passed, she would dedicate each of her races to his memory. She loved art and puzzles, spending hours on Lego sets with her nephew, or sketching. She was the life of the party and always cared for others. Her dream was to one day run her own nursing home to care for the elderly.

Jessica is survived by her mother, Mrs. Josephine Rhodes; her siblings, Mr. Rudolph Lizama, Mrs. Marie Stephens, Mr. Michael Lizama, and Ms. Hannah Ariola; her step-siblings, Mr. Clarence Rhodes, Jr., Mr. Jeffery Rhodes, Ms. Carrie Rhodes,  Ms. Ruby Rhodes, Mr. Edward Lucas, Mr. Charles Smith, Ms. Talessia Williams, Mr. Aaron Frye, Ms. Andrea Frye, and Ms. Etienne Frye; her nieces and nephews, Robin, Alexis, and Aden; her great-nephew, Zion; her aunts and uncle, Mrs. Caroline Bennett, Mrs. Clara Myvett, Mrs. Ellorine Rhodes, Mr. Hulbert LaHodie, and Mr. Charles Rhodes. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Rhodes, Sr, and her aunt, Mrs. Clara (Johnathan) Penny.
