John Warren Lyon

    John Warren Lyon, age 72, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home in Overton, Nevada.  He was born October 8, 1950 in Overton to Warren McLachlan and Dorothy Bowman Lyon.  On August 23, 1974 he married Monique Lorraine Corriveau in Overton.  On September 22, 1978 they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple.  
    John lived most of his life in Overton.  At age ten he started working at the family’s telephone company cleaning phones.  He retired as the President of the company.  He was a humble leader, willing to work hard and listen to others.  John loved serving in his church including five years as temple workers.  He was a young men’s and Scout leader for many years.  He had a great influence on many young men, camping, hiking, repelling, rock climbing and exploring.  He loved going fast, riding motorcycles, racing drag cars, road biking and snow skiing.  He loved riding roller coasters with his daughter.  He earned his black belt in Karate.  He was a quiet unassuming missionary of Jesus Christ, bringing souls to Christ with his example of discipleship.
    Survivors include his wife, Mo of Overton; daughter, Tana Lyon of Cedar City, UT; son, Edward (Christa) Wells of Woodville, TX; five grandsons; three sisters: Pat (Sam) Wells of Anaheim, CA; Karen (Jim) Hansen of South Jordan, UT ; Jeanenne (Brent) Nielsen of Wellsville, UT and sister in law, Linda Lyon of Overton. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca and one brother, Calvert.
    Funeral services will be Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Overton, Chapel, 226 W. Thomas Street, Overton, NV.  Visitation will be Sunday, September 24 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.  Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery in Overton, Nevada.  Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
