Matthew Wayne Williams

Matthew Wayne Williams, 50, passed away on April 14, 2023 in Overton, NV. Matt was born on July 21, 1972 in Madison County, MT to Wayne Grant Williams and Bonnie Jean Bastian Williams. Matt grew up in Vernal, UT, spent many years with his family in Colorado, then spent the last several years in Nevada caring for his father. He was a very caring person, with a kind heart. His brother-in-law described him as “one of my best friends”, Matt was a very loving uncle, he created a very loving connection with his nieces and nephews, that they hold dear. 

Matt loved watching NASCAR and everything Dale Earnhardt. He loved being in the outdoors, and riding dirt bikes. He loved tinkering, could fix vehicles, and find a solution to fix just about anything. He would go out of his way to help his family with home improvement projects; using his knowledge, skills, and patience, he helped turn their ideas into something great!

Matt loved his family, friends, and animals. He had a tough exterior, that covered a big heart, perhaps that’s why animals always knew he was a kind soul. He had a way of making those he loved feel comfortable and protected. He was always teasing and cracking jokes, hated having his picture taken, and could be counted on to flip the bird with a smile!

Matt is survived by his daughter, Shamra McMurtrey; his granddaughter, Briley Holmgren; his father, Wayne (Marie) Williams; his siblings, Sherry Lewis, Ruth (Earl) Reams, Michael (Caradie) Williams, Karen Rea, Kathleen (Troy) Cheney, and Julie (James) Garcia; and 17 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Jean Bastian Williams, and his brother, Jeremy Williams.
