Nicolas Huerta - Romo II

          Nicolas Huerta - Romo II, age 84, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his home in Overton, Nevada.  He was born August 10, 1936 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Nicolas Huerta and Graciana Romo.  He married Amparo Lopez in Logandale, Nevada. 

          Nicolas started coming to the United States at the early age of 17 to  work in the Bracero program, working in California, Washington and Oregon.  He moved to Moapa Valley in 1976 as a permanent resident where he worked at the Wayne Newton Ranch.  He loved to work in agriculture and had special expertise in pruning and grafting trees.  He was a simple man who loved his family, the outdoors, the smell of the rain and coffee in the morning.

          Survivors include his wife, Amparo; three sons and three daughters: Celia Dominguez of Overton; Nicolas (Tammy) of Logandale; Sandra (Glen) Martin of Las Vegas; Oscar (Alma) of Logandale; Jaime (RaNae) of Logandale; Maria (Tarek Shaalan) of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren;  six great grandchildren and one sister Reyna Marquez of CA.

          A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in his honor on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church.  Visitation will be from 11 - Noon at the Moapa Valley Mortuary Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
