Raphella Benn (Spute)

Raphella Benn, 74, passed away on April 20, 2023 in Moapa, NV. Raphella was born on June 16, 1948 in Las Vegas, NV to Harry Benn and Irene Ben. She was raised in Moapa and graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 1965/66. She then attended college and cosmetology school in California. She returned to Moapa where she worked as a nurse for home health care. She then worked for the Moapa Tribal Court House as a dispatcher and a clerk for over thirty years.

Raphella loved chatting and visiting with her friends and loved ones. She loved her heritage and culture, and ambitiously kept records and maintained photos of her ancestors. She was often singing as she beaded and sewed traditional native apparel. She was very outgoing and loved to travel.

Raphella is survived by her son, Nicholas Hugh (Janine Winnamucca) Jackson; her grandchildren, Miranda (Dylan) Diaz, Aundreaus (Vanessa) Jackson, Savannah Jackson, Bailey Jackson, and Amaris Bo Jackson; her great-grandchildren, Sebastian Diaz, Alyza B. Diaz, and Dre Nicholas Jackson; her brother, Virgil (Shirley) Benn; and a large extended family. She is preceded in death by her son, Brian Gerald (Mavis) Jackson; her great-grandson, Brian Ivan Diaz; and her sisters, Delphenia Drye, Karen Benn, and Maryjane Benn.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, 1-2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Moapa Chapel, with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A Traditional Sing will be held at sundown at the Moapa Tribal Building, 1 Lincoln Ave, Moapa, NV, with interment at sunrise at the Moapa Tribal Cemetery.
