Sandra (Sandy) McKnight Obituary

Sandy passed away peacefully on July 18, 2021, in Mesquite, NV surrounded by the love of her family. She was 86 years old. Born on July 2, 1935, in Salem, OR to Robert Claude Gee and Annabelle Louise Rosenthal, where she was raised and experienced living in a logging camp.

She later moved to Salt Lake City, UT where she made her living as a stenographer and a secretary. In 1960 she married B. Todd Jensen and raised three children in Bountiful, UT. After raising her children, she returned to work as a Payroll Clerk. During this time, she married Richard (Dick) McKnight in 1990 and added his two children to her life. Dick and Sandy spent their time traveling, playing golf and socializing while living in Park City UT and Scottsdale, AZ. In 2010 Sandy relocated to Winnemucca, NV and finally settled in Mesquite, NV in 2012. It was in Mesquite where she felt very content and peaceful having her three children nearby. The family was able to spend a lot of time with her and create special memories. She survived breast cancer twice in her life and made it her mission to give back through volunteer work and supporting various groups on their journey to help and inspire others. Her heart was very charitable. She was loved by so many people in her life. Sandy was a meticulous organizer who loved to dance and work in the garden. She was a high-spirited woman and had the special ability to befriend everyone she met. Our family could not have asked for a more wonderful daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother than Sandy. She will continue to inspire us every day.

Sandy is survived by her children, Bryant (Silvia) Jensen, Paul (Vicki) Jensen, and Mary Grace (Kenny) Smith. She had 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Richard McKnight.

Mom requested that no services or funeral be held. She asked that her loved ones gather separately to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, Mom requested you support your favorite charity, volunteer, or assist someone in need as she devoted much of her life to bettering the world around her. The family invites you to leave a memory or message on their guest book page at virginvalleymortuary.com.
