Walter Dennis Copeland

Walter Dennis Copeland, age 74, died peacefully Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada with his two sons and his wife of 55 years at his side. He was born October 15, 1945 in Pueblo, Colorado to Scarborough J and Frances Margaret Tomich Copeland. On May 21, 1966 he married Sandra Kay Wyatt in Pueblo.

Dennis grew up in Pueblo. After marrying his high school sweetheart, he raised his family in Arvada, Colorado where he had a fulfilling career as an engineer for the Colorado Department of Transportation. He enjoyed designing and supervising construction for many of Colorado’s roads and bridges. He loved his work and he loved being a father and husband. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and being with family. He will be remembered for his strong moral character, his work ethic and for his forgiving heart.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Mesquite; two sons, Jeff (Crystal) of Durango, CO; Ross (Amy) of Oakman, AL; his daughter in law, Charise Gianetto of Durango, CO; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sister, Debbie (Joe) Verderaime of Pueblo West, CO and one brother, James (Ruth) Copeland of Plainview, TX.
