Willverna Pulsipher Leavitt, age 98, died Sunday, August 29, 2021 at her home in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born during the horse and wagon times on September 14, 1922 in Arden, Nevada to William and Nevada Hardy Pulsipher. On October 5, 1939 she married Harley Heber Leavitt in the St. George Temple. Harley preceded her in death on January 8, 1985. On January 5, 1992 she married Lamar Leavitt, Harley’s brother. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1999.
Willverna lived in Arden until the age of seven when her family moved to Mesquite, Nevada. Except for a short time living in Nelson, Nevada, Mesquite was her home. She supported her husband, Harley, as they operated Harley’s Garage in Mesquite. She was a bookkeeper bookkeeping, bill collector and kept the parts inventory replenished. Always a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served as President in all of the Auxiliaries in the ward and the stake and she served as an Ordinance worker in both the St. George and Las Vegas Temples for years. Bridal attendant was her favorite calling in the temple. She enjoyed serving with Harley in the Canada Montreal mission and lived in Upstate New York. They worked closely with the Native Americans of the area, and loved it. She was an avid reader and loved the scriptures, church history and Gospel doctrine. She always had a quilt to work on set up in her living room. Family and Church was the bedrock of her life.
Survivors include her son, Terry (Sandra) Leavitt of Logandale; two daughters: Janet (Berkley) Marshall of Logandale, NV; Ava (Scott) Peterson of Las Vegas, NV; daughter in law, Tamara (Rex) Haueter of Mesquite, NV; 25 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and one sister, Katie Lee of Mesquite.
