Dear Bernice and family,
What a great man Gene is, and what a privilege it was to know the the two of you. He meant so much to us as a patriot and friend and we admire him greatly. It was such a privilege to be your home teacher, because it was always him who taught us. The world is a better place because of the contributions he made all through his life. Our prayers are always with you, Bernice.

Oh my goodness, it breaks my heart to know that Gene has passed on. He was such a great neighbor and friend. I loved his many stories of heroics and sometimes, mischief. What a guy! I know you will miss him so much, Bernice, but how wonderful that he was in your life, and you in his!
